About Founder David Begelfer
David Begelfer is Founder and President of CRE Strategic Advisors, a commercial real estate consulting firm that provides advice and guidance to private, corporate, and institutional clients. After a four-decade career including prominent roles as broker, developer, advocate, spokesman, lobbyist, educator, and advisor, David offers a unique perspective on the industry, the market, and the development process.
David was Chief Executive Officer of NAIOP Massachusetts, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, representing the industry through its legislative affairs efforts, educational programs, and continual research into critical issues of business development. David also is a past president and chairman of the Board of the New England chapter of NAIOP and served as the first chairman of NAIOP’s National PAC.
Prior to his tenure at NAIOP, David was President of The Iver Company, a commercial real estate development company that built office and R&D properties in eastern Massachusetts, and Director of Development for two real estate development companies—one developing residential and office properties in Massachusetts and Colorado and the other a multi-family development and investment company with properties in eastern Massachusetts.
David is a board member of NAIOP Massachusetts and MassEcon. He was the founding co-chairman of the 495/MetroWest Corridor Partnership, a board member of Northeastern University’s School of Public Policy & Urban Affairs, Boston Municipal Research Bureau, MassINC, and on the Advisory Board of the Pioneer Institute’s Center for Economic Opportunity. He established and co-chaired a state-wide business coalition. He also has served on numerous state regulatory and policy advisory committees.
David is a registered lobbyist, real estate broker, and licensed CEU real estate educator in Massachusetts. He was formerly a Massachusetts Licensed Fight Promotor. He is a frequent contributor to daily and weekly newspapers in the Commonwealth, has been interviewed on local radio and television, and is a frequent speaker at numerous business organizations, local colleges, and universities.
David is a Board member of the Jewish Community Centers of America, Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston, the American Jewish Committee, and the CJP Annual Fund Leadership Council and is past Chair of the United Way Real Estate Committee and currently serves on its Advisory Board. He is a past member of the Board of Trustees of Hebrew College, the Heading Home, Inc. Advisory Council, Overseers of the New Center for Arts and Culture, and Temple Beth Avodah Board.
David received the NAIOP Edward A. Linde Public Service Award in 2018, the Community Leadership Award from the American Jewish Committee in 2013, and the Bob Ray Partnership Award from the Massachusetts Housing Shelter Alliance in 2010.
David is a graduate of Clark University.
